Department of Biological Sciences - A decade of excellence (2007-2020)

The Biological Sciences department hosts a faculty pool from multiple disciplines of biology to give comprehensive knowledge of the field to its students. The aim of the department coincides with the PD Patel Institute of Applied Sciences- "To engage in education and research leading to spread of scientific knowledge for the benefit of society at large".

Programme Highlights

  • Department of biological sciences will equip the student with much needed basic understanding of the complexities of biology at the cellular-to organism level
  • The programme equips the student with basic knowledge about cellular to organism based processes needed in industries and academia.
  • The student will be able to choose the subjects each year as elective courses in different fields of biology.
  • Students will be exposed to basic biochemistry of the cells to Bacteriology, Virology, immunology, agriculture biotechnology, animal cell culture, etc. theoretically and practically.
  • Students will also be groomed for their communication skills in English, nanobiotechnology, enzymology and bioinformatics.
  • The department hosts compulsory dissertation research projects for masters students in various fields of biological sciences.
